Johnny Depp is Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - Another Tim Burton Classic
We’ve seen Christmas classics by Tim Burton. The latest is Sweeney Todd played by Johnny Depp. This latest masterpiece is a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller “Sweeney Todd.” Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter.
Based on the preview I’ve seen, two favorite scene is “Epiphany 4″, and the “Sweeney - Where is my wife”. In the “Epiphany 4″ is musical with Todd surrounded by many people in the background. We initially have a close up of Todd, and then we zoom out with showing Todd surrounded by many people milling around him. In the “Sweeney - Where is my wife” scene, he is asking about his wife. He is asking where she is.
Todd is seeking revenge. It gets out of hand. On the other hand, based on the clips, he seems to still care for his family. He seems to have a caring side, along with an evil side.
Of course, my favorite scene is the “Epiphany 4″ scene where he says “not one man, no nor 10 men, nor a hundred can a sweet dream” seems to depict that nothing will stop him from seeking revenge and killing.
